Omaha! X1 Madden League

About Us

Platform: X-Box One

Advances Wednesday & Saturday @ 7pm PST

League will become a 48 hour league in the post-season.

Omaha! X1 is a sim league focused on enjoying a fun, casual, and competitive team building and football gameplanning experience. Our demographics range in ages, marital status, employment, etc. We are looking for like minded gamers who are football fans first and foremost, who are willing to commit to our league for the long haul. We are not a league that is looking for players that play a “win at all costs” type of game, we do not look for players who are the “best”, we do not look for players who have discovered the game’s weaknesses and exploits to use constantly for success, nor are we looking for “sim snobs” that want to dictate every aspect of how someone plays the game. Play to win, but play with respect.

“I didn’t know the rule” is not a valid excuse. The rules are easily accessible to refresh your memory.

League Administration

Allen Murphy (ExecutionDbl9) – League Founder and Commissioner

Madden Cycle

Our Madden Cycle lasts the span from the release of the new Madden release in August, until the release of the next Madden the following August. Our league season begins following the Week 1 patch and roster update, and continues typically for 3-5 seasons. Prior to the Week 1 patch and roster update, the league will engage in various game activities to warmup for the new season.

Joining The League

New members will need to contact Allen Murphy (ExecutionDbl9) for admission to the league. All members are required to have a Facebook account and join our Facebook page (this can be a fake profile). All league notices, scheduling, and communication goes through the Facebook page.

All league members must join the league as a Custom Coach upon entering the league on the X-Box.

Team Selection

At the beginning of each Madden cycle, league members will submit their top 3 team choices to Allen Murphy. League Administration will assign teams to owners based on a variety of factors, including league longevity, league activity, real life team fandom (a cycle by cycle rotation can be implemented if we have multiple fans of the same team). In most cases, players will get their #1 choice of team. At times, you will receive your 2nd or 3rd choices. In uncommon circumstances, we may need to assign you a team that was not among your top 3 choices. These situations are infrequent, and we try to avoid them whenever possible, but sometimes it is necessary.

Gameplay

-Custom playbooks ARE allowed

-ALL plays are allowed to be used

-You ARE EXPECTED to mix up your playcalling and not just spam the same play / play concept over and over again. (“Concept” = “toss”, “stretch”, “outs”, “cover 3”, etc.)

  • “Man” and “zone” defenses do not count on this. You will not be expected to mix up between man and zone defensive calls.

-Clarification of “mixing it up”: While there are no rules on what plays you can and cannot call, it is expected that you will not spam plays over and over again on offense or defense, or will not call the same play everytime in certain down situations (i.e. calling Pinch Buck every 3rd down). You are not banned from using any play in any circumstance, but if you consistently resort to spamming plays or running the same plays in specific situations, you will be expected to make changes to your playcalling. If you feel your opponent is spamming playcalling over and over again, please provide evidence of your claims via screenshots, recording of clips, or best of all, streaming with archived enabled.

4th Down Rules

You MUST punt on 4th down EXCEPT in the following circumstances:

  • When at or beyond the 50 yard line

  • Whenever you are trailing in the 2nd half by 21+ points

  • Anytime you are trailing in the 4th quarter, or when tied in the 4th quarter with 4:00 or less to play.

  • Anytime in Overtime

  • You are allowed ONE (1) Fake Punt OR “Go for it” outside of these rules per game.

No Huddle Offense

No Huddle offense is NOT allowed EXCEPT in the following circumstances:

  • 4:00 and under in the 2nd and 4th quarters or under 4:00 in Overtime.

Onside Kicks

Onside kicks are NOT allowed EXCEPT in the following circumstances:

  • Trailing in the 4th quarter

Defensive Player Movement

You are allowed to manually move ONE player on defense prior to the snap. You MAY switch defensive players post snap. This rule CANNOT be used to set up “nano blitzes”. Positional and pre-set defensive shifts ARE allowed, and defensive playcalls where a defender moves automatically do not count against your 1 player limit.

Ivory Rule

When leading by 21+ points with 4:00 or less to play in the 4th quarter, you MUST:

  • Run the “chew clock” option on offense.

  • Bench any QB / HB / WR / TE who is over the stat limit

    • QB’s: 350+ yards passing / 3 TD’s

    • HB’s: 150 yards rushing / 3 TD’s

    • WR’s: 150 yards rushing / 3 TD’s

    • TE’s: 150 yards rushing / 3 TD’s

    • These stat limits apply ONLY to 21+ point leads with 4:00 or less to play in the 4th quarter.

  • NOT score offensive TD’s. FG’s are permitted.

  • This rule DOES NOT change if your opponent brings the score to under a 21 point deficit.

Ellen Rule

Defense must always have a MINIMUM of THREE (3) players rushing the QB (“contain” and “spy” count towards this total). You CANNOT audible all 3 rushers into contain / spy. At least 1 must be a rush.

Kickoff Returns

You are NOT allowed to take your kick returner out of the endzone and then run forward to catch the ball in stride.

Roster Management

-You MUST have 53 players on your roster by Week 1 of the regular season.

-You MUST have at least 1 starter at every position (including FB, 2 WR’s, 2 CB’s, 1 MLB, 2 OLB’s, 1 FS, 1 SS, 1 at each o-line / d-line position, etc.). The starter(s) at each position MUST naturally play that position.

-The following position changes ARE allowed without administration approval (and CAN be a starter at these positions even if not naturally assigned to that position):

  • Any position on the o-line

  • Any position on the d-line

  • MLB to OLB / OLB to MLB

  • OLB to DE / DE to OLB

  • FS to SS / SS to FS

  • You MAY use a P for the KOS (kick off) position.

  • ANY OTHER POSITION CHANGES are subject to administration approval

League Season

The new league season as it applies to trades / contracts, etc. begins immediately after the Super Bowl.

Trades

You are allowed 3 total trades per league season for seasons 1-3. Seasons 4 and beyond will have no trade limit. Trades involving ONLY draft picks do not count towards this limit.

All trades are subject to approval by the league administration.

League administration will consider things like trade value, cap penalties, # of overall trades made, and team captains. You may be asked to present a business case to support your reasoning for the trade.

One Year Contracts

Contracts offered to players OVR 85+ and UNDER age 30 during off-season free agency MUST be 2 years minimum. If there is a conflict over a player’s OVR, the DaddyLeagues OVR will be used.

Marcheese Rule

You are NOT allowed to release a player during the season and resign him immediately. Any player you release during the regular season is ineligible for re-signing until the following advance.

Free Agent Draft

At the beginning of each Madden cycle, we will have a Free Agent Draft. Players claimed in the free agent draft may NOT be signed by any teams except the team that claimed them.

Season Free Agency

In season free agency is first come / first serve (with the exception of any claimed FA’s from the draft that have yet to be signed). Any players signed in free agency are ineligible to be traded until the following season.

League Etiquette

Attendance

Three unexcused absences will result in removal from the league. Excused absences will be determined by league administration. Communication with your opponent that resulted in a mutual inability to schedule, vacations that were told to us ahead of time, etc. are examples of excused absences.

Missing A Game

If one side is unable to make their game appointment, a Force Win will be handed to the team that was available to play. If that player chooses to play the CPU, they will need to remain within the stat limits provided under the Ivory Rule.

Game Disconnects

If a game disconnects and the outcome was not in question, the Force Win will be handed to the appropriate team. If a game disconnects early (1st or 2nd quarter), or the outcome is still undetermined, it will be expected the game is replayed or goes to fair sim.

THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO QUITTING OF GAMES. If you are getting blown out, you must play out the end of the game. If you have a gameplay complaint against your opponent, you must play out the end of the game and communicate the issue to league administration.

Pausing

If one player pauses the game, please allow him to be the one to resume gameplay.

Facebook Page

Friendly banter is allowed among members on the Facebook page. Disrespectful comments will be moderated. Continued disrespect will result in removal from the league.

Rule Violations

Any violations of these rules will result in disciplinary action handed out by the league administration and will be a case by case basis, up to and including removal from the league if deemed necessary. If you are making a complaint about a fellow owner, please have proof of the claims. I cannot discipline “he said / she said” situations.
